Travel guidance

All University-related international travel is prohibited. University-related domestic travel must receive prior approval by a supervising dean or vice president.

Clinical faculty and staff

All travel, both international and domestic, by any employee who operates in or supports clinical care is prohibited to ensure appropriate staffing levels should situations warrant.

All university faculty and staff must also adhere to the following guidelines:

International Travel

  • University-related international travel is prohibited
  • Personal international travel is strongly discouraged. In accordance with CDC guidance, any member of the University community who travels internationally for personal reasons is required to quarantine for 14 days upon return.
  • In accordance with Department of Homeland Security regulation, and only with specific exceptions, foreign nationals who have been in any of the following countries during the past 14 days may not enter the United States.

Domestic Travel

  • University-related domestic travel is limited to only essential travel for University of Miami business that cannot be conducted remotely and requires prior approval by a supervising dean or vice president
  • In accordance with Governor Executive Orders, individuals returning to Florida from select parts of the United States may be required to quarantine for 14-days upon returning to the State of Florida; however, the executive order does not apply to students traveling for the purpose of academic work, internships, sports training and any other activity or program approved by the educational institution.

Future changes to University travel policy will be based on guidance from the CDC, WHO, State Department, and public health officials. The University travel policy will continue to be reassessed as conditions change.
